Richard Ward

I write this requesting your prayers for my son-in-law, Mike, our daughter, Janna, and many others. Richard Ward, Mike's partner (finish carpenter), was sick this weekend, unable to keep food down, not eating, feeling very poorly. Mike called to check on him this weekend; after taking some Phenagren, he was able to drink coke and eat some toast. He rarely gets sick, so his wife, Julie, was surprised he felt so badly, running a fever, low back pain, etc. Last evening Mike called to check on Richard, he told him he felt much better and would be at work today, being his usual cut-up self, laughing, joking, etc. This morning, when Mike arrived at work, Richard was not at work, which is unusual. Mike called him and he said he was running late and would be there soon--trying not to overdo it after being sick this weekend. So they worked all morning together; Richard came back from lunch about noon and he and Mike sat around talking and joking with one another. Mike went to the pool house to work; Richard was working in thte garage. About 10-minutes into it, the supervisor over this job came running to Mike, hollering his name, saying, "Hurry, get in the garage! it's Richard!" He had apparently been drilling; the 3rd hole down was not completely drilled through. Evidently he started feeling badly, put the drill down, and fell face down, knocking his teeth out (they ended up being in his mouth). The supervisor called 911; the landscaper and Mike started doing CPR, at the instructions of the paramedics on the phone. Richard already looked to be gone, but occasionally he would gasp for a breath. However, he only had a very faint pulse, and eventually that left. The paramedics tubed him, took him to the hospital and told Mike it didn't look good. Janna, Julie (his wife) and Julie's sister were at the hospital. They were rushed into the room, where he was pronounced dead. Richard was soon to be 61, no children and he and his wife were best friends. Every morning he took her to work before he went to work. Mike is devastated, though Janna says she can tell it hasn't fully registered with him yet! He told Janna he tried to save him, and kept telling him to hold on, to breathe...Richard mentored Mike in the construction business. Please pray for Julie and the rest of the family; for Janna; for Mike (PLEASE say extra prayers for him--he lost his own dad a few years ago and found him in his truck dead---says this is bringing flashbacks to him and "messin' with his head"); for the other guys at the site. Janna and Mike don't have internet right now; however, i know cards would mean a lot.
